You right. I would have NEVER expected YG to perform a verse like that. When I head Phonte’s verse, that was literally the FIRST time I heard an MC put it down like that. When I heard YG’s, I was like “oh, word?”. I’m all for emotionally maturing in hip-hop.
Phonte’s verse on Black Milk’s “No Wish”, also addresses sexual abuse and its familial effects. Incredibly brave. And good.
