Ab-Soul, Ella Mae, JMSN & Grammy Voting

This week was definitely slower than last week but I still managed to find a few goodies to share.

SHOWS

My East Village Radio show airs on Wednesday from 10am to 12pm and it’s full of new music this week. Hopefully yall been tuning in!

Frankenstein’s Baby is back at Union Hall on November 18th. Sadly I wont be there but can a few of you go and tell me how it was?

NEWS

One of the biggest stories in music right now is that the Grammy nominations are out and now that all of the high stakes voting of the election is over it’ll be nice to see how this low stakes election turns out.

Andre is nominated a few times, Beyonce is in a bunch of categories including country and Americana, Kendrick is everywhere, Lalah Hathaway got a nom, Kaytranda, Brittany Howard, Durand Bernarr… there are some interesting categories

You can see all the nominees here but there are four categories that I’m really interested in and would love to hold ‘mock elections’ for. That’s right you are now a part of the Grammy voting committee and can help pick the winners below.

Benson Boone, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan are also nominated for one but I only get 5 slots here so if you want em bad enough just write em in at the bottom

Kendrick Nominated Twice? I feel like I know who’s gonna win this one…

Jacob Collier, Chappel Roan and Taylor Swift are also nominated for this but my polls have limits so they aren’t in my version of the Grammys. But if you want to write them in you have to write them in as a comment below.

This song is a year old but a snippet of the directors cut of the video has made it go viral I have thoughts about the video but the song is a jam. Also a lesson to artists PROMOTE YOUR OLD SHIT. BELIEVE IN IT.

Ella Mai dropped an ep and one of the songs uses the same sample as a song I’ve been waiting for mad long to release.

Psalm One and Optiks finally dropped their album pon the DSPs.

I haven’t got to listen to it yet but Ab-Soul continues TDE’s 2024 run by dropping Soul-Burger.

ASAP Ferg dropped an album.

Ragen Fykes got a new group and they are putting out some really cool music.

This album is from 2020 but I just found out about it and I really like it. I have no idea who the artists are but I’m gonna be doin my Googles.

SONGS

My guy Twilite Tone bout to have a banner year.

Cordae project is shaping up to be really dope.

This joint is pretty dope.

This is definitely not The LOX but it is a guy named LOX who is really dope.

Over the last few months I’ve been beat to the punch twice. Both Ravyn Lenae & Ella Mae have dropped songs that use the same samples as songs I’ve been waiting to release. Maybe I can convince the producer to drop them anyway. I forget who said it but in the words of ????? “you can’t own no loops”.
