SHOWS

10/9 - I’m back on East Village Radio from 10am to 12pm so if you need somebody to keep you company feel free to tune in and hop in the chat on the website if you are feeling froggy.

10/11 - I’ll be doing my first vinyl set in a long time at Bar Meridian. It runs from 8pm until late so if you’re in the neighborhood come through. Fun Fact: Did you know that 15 songs is approximately an hours worth of music? FREE

10/21 - Frankenstein’s Baby is back at Union Hall. The first two shows have been really fun and I don’t expect the third to be anything less. Doors at 7 and jokes start at 7:30. TIX

10/24 - Shouting at The Screen is back just in time for Halloween and as usual I can’t tell you what the movie is but I can tell you that blaxploitation era costumes are encouraged. TIX

ALMANAC OF RAP

Cory Gunz was on the show last week and it was we had a really fun conversation. We talked about his many mentors (Nick Cannon, Lil Wayne and Shaq), what it was like growing up with Peter Gunz as a dad and his love for rapping.

Shaq has come up several times in this season and now I feel like I need to interview him so if anyone has a line on him let me know!

NEWS

Aside from waiting for Eric Adams to go to jail I am genuinely out of the loop. I spent the last week researching for AOR then going out of town to DJ my niece’s wedding so unfortunately I don’t have any news. I bet they are still milking this whole Drake/Kendrick thing.

JID be rapping and his freestyle series is very enjoyable. Where the album at?

This was one of the best songs on Kaytranada’s last album so seeing it get an official video is dope.

About a week ago there was footage floating around of Doechii performing gospel in in a park and apparently that footage is from this peformance.

Busta Rhymes dropped a new video.

ALBUMS

14KT and Shad teamed up and it’s a BANGER.

Mathien dropped an album.

The Expert and NAHreally went back to the well and hit us with another helping of fire.

I feel like Lynda Dawn just dropped an album? Maybe she did and I already posted it. Regardless it deserves to be heard.

This Rome Streetz and Daringer feels like something that I’ll really be into and I can’t wait to actually listen to it.

Don’t know who Toru is but I clicked it because of STLNDRMS and it does not disappoint.

ADDENDUM

I think I’m forgetting to include something in this week’s newsletter but I don’t know what so I’m just going to have to live with that lingering feeling until sometihing (if anything) pops up and reminds me about it. Chances are it wont pop up until this thing is published anyway.
