New York is HOT with no sign of cooling down. As much as I hate running the AC (it makes my nose stop up) I am so happy to have one. If you are in the are and need some spots to cool out in I’ve got a couple of shows coming up and they are listed below.

SHOWS

Shouting at The Screen happens on July 18th. This week’s special guest is the very funny Shalewa Sharpe and the movie is a mystery as always. There is also AC because it’s still hot! TICKETS

Okayplayer is throwing an Almanac of Rap Launch Party at Our Wicked Lady on July 27th. The party goes from 2p - 6p and Shinobi Shaw and Reborn are spinning. RSVP. The podcast is slated to return in August so it’s go time!

I’m doing a DJ set at Elsewhere with Hannibal Buress aka DJ Burgerfeet on August 1st. I am planning on rapping during my DJ set as well so come through and witness the experiment in real time! TICKETS

On August 3rd I’ll be doing something special at Backyard Boogie. I’ll be interviewing Nappy Nina and she’ll be performing a few of her songs as well and after that Sabine Blazin is gonna get busy. It’s goin down in Bushwick and you can get your tickets here.

And as usual I’ll probably be on Twitch from 2-4pm this coming Wednesday.

MUSIC NEWS

Eminem dropped an album. Drake took a photo with a bunch of teddy bears. Complex gave DJ Akademiks the number one slot in their Hip Hop Power Rankings, Missy Elliott is on tour and it looks amazing. LL Cool J gave a good interview to Charlamagne and somebody said Billie Eilish been dressing like Chingy. The last one wasn’t news but it cracked me up.

That’s Billie on Chicken Shop Date which is a Youtube Show hosted by a British comic. Billie is dope but that fit is terrible.

Oddisee is on tour as usual but he made time to drop a new video.

MAVI shot this really dope visual for a really dope song.

I did not expect to be this excited about it but LL’s album is going to be special.

Speaking of Queens Onyx still out here. Sidebar: remember that time Fredro said Michael Jordan shaved his head because of Onyx? LOL

Keep your eye on Chance, he been on fire lately.

Do not sleep on Doechii. She’s one of the best things on TDE right now.

MUSIC

Com & Pete finally dropped the album and it’s pretty dope. Com got one of the most impressive discographies of anyone in the game.

TiRon & Ayomari finally dropped. Shout out to TiRon for letting me hear some of this stuff early and shout out to Ayomari for being dope. I think TiRon produced the album but if I’m wrong hopefully he will correct me in the comments.

Blu & Evidence dropped their joint. Blu has been working crazy hard and it’s inspiring to see.

I love Remi and I’ve been waiting patiently for this to drop. I think Benny Sings helped out on a joint.

Dillon & Batsauce put out their joint and the guest list is thick.

Action Bronson dropped an album and I heard that it doesn’t have any drums on it but I haven’t gotten around to pressing play.

Jay Worthy & DAM-Funk put out a joint that I am sure is dope cus how can you go wrong with Jay Worthy rhymes and DAM-Funk beats?

Jansport J don’t miss so I know this delivers.

I’m riding for Rae until the wheels fall off.

Grafh is so dope. He’s one of them dudes who probably writes for your favorite rappers on the low. High concept and the features to match.

Arin Ray is from Cincinnati and I need to check out more of his stuff cus I have some hometown bias. He is objectively dope tho.

PawPaw Rod got my attention so if he drops I post it.

JID got the fuck off on this. I think his next album is gonna be fully produced by Metro Boomin. This song was on Eminem’s album which is out now.

BONUS

Somebody uploaded footage from the Sault show in London last December. It will probably get taken down soon so if you are a fan you should find a way to rip the video for posterity.

Yall think we’ll ever get a Sault show here in the states?
