I'm Nominated For Two Webby Awards!
I NEED YOUR VOTES and there's also some new music in here....
TL:DR I need you to vote for The Almanac of Rap to win the Webby award in two separate categories. You have to click both links to vote in each category.
Best Indie Podcast - VOTE
Experimental Innovation - VOTE
Voting ends April 17th. Help me win!! I need you to stop reading this and go vote. Even though I typed up a newsletter full of music recommendations nothing else in here matters as much as voting for me to win this thing!
The newsletter starts after this photo. I actually would like for you to read it because it’s got upcoming shows in it but if you go vote and forget to comeback I completely understand.
Right after I sent last weeks newsletter (like literally 30 minutes or so) I found out that I got nominated for two Webby awards. I also will be getting acknowledged as an Honoree in the Music Podcast category which doesn’t require a vote but is still pretty damn cool.
The categories that I’m nominated in are Best Indie Podcast and Experimental Innovation where I am currently in 5th and 3rd place respectively. As usual competition is pretty stiff and the shows/companies that I’m up against are huge.
Which is why I need your help. Can you please go to these two links and vote for The Almanac of Rap?
Best Indie Podcast (currently in 5th) - VOTE
Experimental Innovation (currently in 3rd) - VOTE
Yes you have to create a login to vote and I know how annoying that can be but winning one of these awards really means a lot. Voting ends on April 17th.

NEWS
J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival happened over the weekend and J. Cole said it’s going to be the last one under that name. Little Brother announced a tour this year that is definitely going to be their last one. Drake dropped a video for Nokia and it made me actually like the song. Cleo Sol played the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles… uh… hm. What else?
WHO AM I KIDDING THE ONLY THING I CARE ABOUT RIGHT NOW IS THAT I AM NOMINATED FOR 2 WEBBY AWARDS! TWO OF THEM!! THAT IS SOME PRETTY BIG FUCKING NEWS GUYS!!
VIDEOS
Erykah Badu took the stage at the Billboard’s Women In Music Awards and as usual she gave an amazing performance.
And speaking of amazing performances Azealia Banks is on tour overseas and someone uploaded this recording of her performance. She. Got. HITS. Say what you want about her but don’t say she don’t got joints.
I stumbled upon this video and it’s really cool. Apparently they are a married which is really cool to see. There aren’t many mixed gender groups out there.
Speaking of mixed gender groups I just found out about PARTYOF2. They used to be named Grouptherapy and have more members. The music is still dope!
Aside from Aron being a 14 year old bassist I don’t know much else about him. I did not really look to be honest. I did find out that his brother manages his IG tho.
Mike be putting out music under the name DJ Black Power which makes his output even crazier. His last album Showbiz is my shit.
ALBUMS
I had no idea that Joe Kay made music. For those you who don’t know who he is, he founded Soulection. For those of you who don’t know what THAT is, Google has all the answers you need.
New music from SiR is always a good thing. Man, TDE be putting out some damn deluxe albums!
R.A.P. Ferreira got a new project out and I haven’t heard it but he’s a sure shot.
My homie Parle blended a few of Common’s verses over some well known Nas songs. It’s a really dope idea that works well in translation.
Homeboy Sandman continues to rap really fucking well and pick really dope beats.
A lil something for all you jazz cats out there. Jazz Is Dead is a sure shot too.
SONGS
The Alkaholiks put out a new song which is their first one in a while.
Illingsworth is always dope.
Jane Handcock dropped a new jam.
This is a really good R&B song. Teezo has become a beacon of good R&B for me
Jose James teamed up with Takeya Kuroda to turn around a great cover of an MJ classic.
I think Karriem Riggens has a whole project coming with Silas Short. I also don’t know who Silas Short is but if this is the quality of the music I’m hype.
Dunno who this dude is but I stumbled upon it and was pleasantly surprised. R&B is thriving.
